A black-and-white, wide-angle photograph of a dense pine forest with a multi-exposure effect that creates ethereal, vertical streaks of light cutting through the trees. Bright light streams down from the upper right, illuminating a soft, textured field of tall undergrowth grass in the foreground while the deep woods gently blur into a hazy, atmospheric background.
A Place to Wonder
What Comes into View

It is a strange place to stand, somewhere between who you were and who you have been working toward becoming.

For a long time, I confused comfort with safety. I stayed close to what was familiar, believing that if I didn’t go too far, life might remain manageable. But comfort has a way of becoming its own kind of hiding place. I began pushing myself to go beyond it. Not all at once, and never without fear. Change rarely happens that way. It comes quietly, in small decisions, in moments when I choose to move forward even though I have no idea where I will end up.
Setbacks happen. There were times I wanted to give up. But every so often, something happens that makes the change visible. A door opens. Someone sees in us what we have been trying to see in ourselves. A small piece falls into place, and for a moment we are given proof that we are no longer standing where we once were. I think that is where I am now. Not at the beginning, and certainly not at the end. Somewhere in between, where the familiar is beginning to soften and what lies ahead has not yet come fully into view.

It is an uncertain place. But perhaps it is also a place to wonder.
